About this place
At the far end of Trancoso’s Quadrado stands São João Batista Church, built in 1656 with its back to the sea to protect worshippers and the heritage. The little church is much sought after for charming weddings celebrated in the Quadrado. Behind the church is a viewpoint with a panoramic view of some of Trancoso’s most beautiful beaches, as well as part of the area’s native vegetation characteristic of the Atlantic Forest. This place is part of Rede Bem Bahia’s Regional Guide and helps visitors understand the natural, historical, cultural and scenic diversity of the Costa do Descobrimento. The experience changes according to the time of day, tide, weather, calendar and means of access. Plan your visit with travel, length of stay and current rules in mind, and confirm operational information before leaving.
