Cabrália–Santo André ferry crossing

Santa Cruz Cabrália · Bahia

Visitor guide

Organising your visit

The ferry between Santa Cruz Cabrália and Santo André crosses the João de Tiba River and is part of planning access to the municipality's coast. Allow for waiting, boarding and onward transport after disembarking. Confirm schedules, fares, vehicle rules and return conditions for your travel date.

The crossing to Santo André is a transport stage on the João de Tiba River. Planning must include waiting, boarding and the journey after arrival, not just time aboard. Confirm operations for your travel date, particularly if you have a timed appointment.

Before leaving Cabrália’s town centre, confirm where to board and how to reach your final destination. If not taking a vehicle, organise transport on the other bank. Allow a margin for the return and do not rely on an old timetable to decide when to come back.

About this place

The Cabrália–Santo André ferry links the town of Santa Cruz Cabrália with the district of Santo André across the João de Tiba River. The crossing carries pedestrians, bicycles and vehicles and, in addition to providing an essential service for residents, opens the way to Santo André, Santo Antônio and Guaiú beaches. The scenery along the way includes mangroves, boats, birds and a sweeping view of the town from the river.

Getting there

Follow BR-367 to the town of Santa Cruz Cabrália and look for the ferry terminal beside the João de Tiba River. To continue to Santo André, board on foot or with your vehicle and follow the coastal road after the crossing. Schedules, fares, queues and capacity vary by day; confirm operations before setting out and plan your return too.

Things to do

Use the crossing to observe where the river meets the mangroves, photograph the scenery without disrupting operations, and combine the journey with the village and Santo André Beach. Those heading north can continue to Santo Antônio and Guaiú, always taking account of the last return crossing.

Travel tips

Arrive early, especially on public holidays and in high season. Keep children close, follow the crew's instructions, do not block maneuvering areas, and confirm current schedules and payment methods on site.
