About this place
Monte Pascoal is said to have been the first place sighted by the Portuguese fleet in April 1500, when the sailor on watch shouted from the crow’s nest: “Land ahoy!” However, the park was only created much later, in 1961. The mountain itself—the peak sighted by the Portuguese—is actually in the center of the National Park, 35 km from the Atlantic Ocean and 156 km south of Porto Seguro. This place is part of Rede Bem Bahia’s Regional Guide and helps visitors understand the natural, historical, cultural and scenic diversity of the Costa do Descobrimento. The experience changes according to the time of day, tide, weather, calendar and means of access. Plan your visit with travel, length of stay and current rules in mind, and confirm operational information before leaving.
